Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,
Coming up at the end of March is the Gainesville Dance Festival with 14 different dance sessions and over 20 hours of dancing. Pass the word. Bring newcomers. Look for next week's newsletter for advanced purchase ticket for the entire weekend. See the article for the schedule.
Kay teaches Ballroom American Tango this Friday at 308 West. There is no UF Tango this Friday.
Saturday US Open Champion Patti Jobst teaches a West Coast Swing workshop followed by our monthly West Coast Swing dance. Contact Josh for private lessons with Patti.
We have four types of swing classes for you every week this month. Sundays are Lindy, the mother of all swing dances, Tuesdays East Coast Swing, Wednesday and Thursdays West Coast Swing.
Sunday from 6 to 7 Swing Dancing 101 for new dancers continues for the month of March. Afterwards from 7 to 8:30 come for Swing dancing for people with some experience and from 8:30 to 9:30 Hustle! $10 for the whole night, $7 for students. $35 for the month, $25 for students.
Tuesday join Richard for East Coast Swing.
Wednesday join Essie and Thursday join Judi for West Coast Swing.
In Ocala, Ocala Dance Center holds ballroom lessons and dances at Urban Cowboy. This month learn Ballroom Tango from 6:30 to 7:30 and open dancing until 10 on a beautiful floor in a smoke free environment.

Come out for a fantastic weekend of dancing at the Gainesville Dance Festival. 14 different dance sessions, 24 hours of dancing. Most sessions have a lesson for newcomers. Everyone welcome. No experience and no partner needed. Friday night Tango from 8 pm to midnight. Saturday 2 to midnight, variety of social dances: English country, waltz, zydeco, west coast swing, blues. Sunday noon to 9 pm folk and social dancing: capoeira, Zumba, samba, fun folk dance mixers, ballroom dancing, lindy swing, Sacred Groove. Judi Markell kicks off her new classes at 308 W University Ave with a bang, by giving you one free lesson! This new ongoing class will normally be $35 for the first four Thursdays of the month, but since March has 5 Thursdays, we are going to throw the 5th Thursday in FREE as a kind of Grand Opening Special.
This is an Intermediate WCS class, so experience with West Coast Swing in needed. Basic 6 and 8 count patterns such as Push Break, Side Passes, and Whips are essential.
