Hello and Gainesville Ocala Israeli and Folk Dancers,
There will be Israeli Dancing this Monday 5/28 and English Country Dancing as well.
Friday June 1 International Folk Dancing returns after about a month hiatus.
Sunday June 3 is the monthly afternoon Contra Dance at the Boltin Center.
Sunday June 3 Sacred Groove returns for a meaning evening.
Next month, we have four classes for beginners starting at 308 West. This is a great time for anyone you know to get started with other beginners. These classes are offered through Santa Fe College Community Education. If you just show up, classes are $10 each, otherwise you can sign up at SFC here

- Contra Dancing 110 : Sundays 5 to 6 starting June 10
- Super Simple Swing Dancing 101 (including West Coast Beginners) : Sundays 6 to 7 starting June 10
- Israeli Folk Dancing 101 : Mondays 7 to 8 starting June 9
The Jewish holiday of Shavuot, the beginning of summer harvest festival, starts Saturday night. Shavuot is Hebrew for "weeks". Shavuot takes place 7 weeks after Passover, on the fiftieth day, which corresponds to Pentecost. Shavuot celebrates the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. These are some dances that we do that have a connection to Shavuot:
- Al Sadeinu : On Our Fields
- Ashrei Haish : The Happy Man (Moses and the Burning Bush)
- Yedid Nefesh : Soul Mate, referring to the Torah or Shabbat and the Jewish people
